Chicago, IL – April 20, 2023 – Svoboda Capital Partners LLC (“SC”), is pleased to announce the majority recapitalization of Bully Pulpit Interactive LLC (“BPI”), a leading marketing and strategic communications firm, by Broad Sky Partners (“Broad Sky”). Broad Sky is a New York-based private equity firm that partners with middle-market business services and consumer companies. SC will retain an ongoing minority equity stake in BPI.
BPI was founded in 2009 by the digital marketers behind the 2008 Obama presidential campaign to assist clients in both the public and private sector in creating a platform to tell their story, gain followers, shape public opinion, drive actionable responses, and increase profitability. Today, BPI, grounded in its differentiated culture, is a leading digital communications, marketing and advertising agency that assists blue-chip corporations, non-profit organizations and political clients with the execution of campaign strategy, audience identification, creative development, media optimization and placement, and data measurement and analytics via its proprietary products. BPI has more than 200 full-time employees across offices in Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, and New York, in addition to its remote workforce.
“We selected SC as our partner seven years ago because we believed in their commitment to preserving our distinguished culture” said Andrew Bleeker, CEO at BPI. Bleeker continued, “Their commitment was ‘as advertised’ and we’d like to thank John Svoboda, David Rubin, and the SC team for being wonderful partners. This can be a tough business, but it’s much more enjoyable with investors and partners that have your back. We are excited SC will continue as investors in our next chapter.”
Svoboda Capital Partners originally recapitalized BPI in partnership with management in August 2016. “We have truly enjoyed our partnership with BPI’s extraordinarily talented team. We have been incredibly impressed with the BPI team’s ability to win significant ‘first-chair’ engagements with some of the brightest and most influential communicators in the world, from blue-chip companies to national advocacy campaigns“ said John Svoboda, Managing Director at Svoboda Capital Partners. “We are excited about BPI’s new partnership with Broad Sky and SC looks forward to being a part of the company’s next chapter.”
